Fractional AI Project Management

We embed as the PM who owns your AI initiative end to end — scoping, vendors, rollout, and the unglamorous follow-through that gets it across the line. Not advice. Delivery.

Who this is for

Mid-market teams with a real AI initiative that nobody has bandwidth to own. The initiative exists — there's leadership buy-in, maybe even a vendor selected — but it's sitting on the backlog because everyone already has a full job.

Fractional AI PM is also the right move when the alternative is hiring a full-time AI director. That search takes months, the role is expensive, and you're betting a lot on a hire before you know what "owning AI" even means at your organization. We let you ship first and hire strategically later.

The difference between a consultant and a fractional PM: A consultant tells you what to do and hands you a deck. A fractional PM owns the outcome. We report to you, attend your standups, manage your vendors, update your stakeholders, and drive the initiative forward week over week. If it doesn't ship, we didn't deliver.

What we own

01

Scope and success definition

Before anything starts, we get alignment on what "done" looks like — scope, timeline, budget, and the metrics that define success. This is where most AI projects go sideways: underdefined scope, competing stakeholder priorities, no agreed definition of done.

02

Vendor sourcing and management

If a vendor hasn't been selected, we build the shortlist, run evaluations, and make a recommendation. If a vendor is already in place, we manage the relationship — holding them accountable to timelines, escalating blockers, and translating between their technical language and your business requirements.

03

Stakeholder communication

Weekly updates, milestone reviews, risk flags. You should never have to wonder what's happening. We keep the right people informed without creating meeting overhead — structured, efficient, calibrated to what leadership actually needs to see.

04

Rollout and change management

The initiative doesn't end at go-live. We manage the rollout, run or coordinate training, track early adoption, and iterate on what's not working. This is the phase most AI projects skip — and why most AI projects don't stick.

05

Adoption measurement and retrospective

We define and track adoption metrics from day one, so the results are measurable — not anecdotal. At the end of the engagement, we document what worked, what didn't, and what to build next.

See it in practice

We embedded as fractional PM on a workflow automation project the client had no bandwidth to drive — scoped it, managed the vendor, and shipped a system that removed 22 hours of manual work per week.

FAQ

Common questions

What does fractional AI PM mean in practice?

It means you get a dedicated AI project manager embedded in your team on a part-time or fixed-term basis. We own the scope definition, vendor coordination, stakeholder communication, rollout plan, and adoption tracking — everything a full-time AI PM would own, without the six-figure salary and benefits overhead.

How is this different from hiring an AI consultant?

Consultants give you advice. A fractional AI PM gives you ownership. We're accountable for the initiative shipping and for the numbers moving — not for delivering a report and stepping back. We stay in the work until it's live and adopted.

How long is a typical fractional AI PM engagement?

Most engagements run three to six months, depending on scope. A focused automation or tool deployment might take 90 days. A broader, multi-team AI rollout is typically a six-month engagement. We structure each engagement around a clear outcome definition so you always know what 'done' looks like.

What AI tools and platforms do you work with?

We're tool-agnostic and work across the major categories: LLM platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google), automation tools (Make, Zapier, n8n), CRM and ops platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho), and document/workflow AI. We evaluate the right tool for your specific workflow rather than pushing a preferred vendor.
